About the Ride
Ride Around the Lake is Illawarra’s own recreational Cycle for Charity. The ride takes place in May each year.
This year will be the 7th edition of the ride and will be held on Saturday, 6 May 2017.
The ride is about ‘breaking the cycle’ of youth at risk of homelessness, by raising awareness and funds for Lighthouse Youth Initiative. Ride Around the Lake is your chance to help “Break the cycle of youth at risk of homelessness” by taking part and we hope opt to also fundraise for The Lighthouse Youth Initiative provides.
There is a 40* kilometre circuit that winds it way around the scenic cycle path and adjoining streets around Lake Illawarra, and the surrounding suburbs.
The 10 kilometre cycle is ideal for those looking for a shorter experience, younger riders and families. The 10km ride begins at the same location of the 40km and heads along a 5km out and back cycle path course, offering spectacular water views of the lake.
The ride is based on fun and participation, with hundreds taking part on a safe scenic course, so the whole family can take part.
* The 40Km ride is open to riders ages 16 and over (12-15 with an accompanying adult) and the Kids family is ride perfect for the little one’s and all the family. For more information visit the FAQ
